Venezia by Fabriano
These sketches are all in my new 9x12 Venezia Sketchbooks. the paper is wonderful for ink and takes watercolor washes very well
I am inspired by the techniques in one of my favorite art books Watercolor without Boundaries by Karlyn Holman. all the drawings I plan on will be cityscapes, or landscapes, many from photos I took while on a trip to the UK and France. There will also be sketches from photo refs around the world shared by my Wetcanvas art friends.

OLD TAVERN AT AMBION PARVA
OLD TAVERN AT AMBION PARVA
This old building is no longer there. It was too expensive to renovate and it became unsafe so had to be pulled down. It was in a separate 'village' used for medieaval weekends at Bosworth Visitor Centre at the sight of the Battle Of Bosworth. It is a shame that it is gone

"The Water of Life" by Steven Broadbent
located in the garden of Chester Cathederal in Chester , UK. this was a selection is the weekend drawing event.
I took a minimalistic approach on color, I really loved the statue and wanted to enhance it.

Down on the Forest Floor
This is far too busy I think, but it is the next page in my book. I poured on some permanent rose, quin gold and antwerp blue, let it dry then inkied in the forest floor, (photo ref by mginsberg from wetcanvas) I added more color, but could not retrieve the whites of the paper (it is only 90 lb after all) so touched it up with gouache, something I never do.

This is an old flour mill building on the bank of the Cass River in the German settlement of Frankenmuth, Michigan. It is now used as a coffee shop and beanery. Frankenmuth was established in 1845. This photo is about 12 years old. It was originally called "Nickless-Hubinger Flour Mill". Bill (SceneChaser) from wetcanvas.
this was painted for a ink and wash challenge
